Casa Guidi

Painting of the Casa Guidi Drawing by George Mignaty
Casa Guidi is where Victorian English poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning and her husband English poet and playwright Robert Browning lived between 1847 and 1861. There are now four rooms of the apartment which can be toured.

Casa Guidi hours are 3:00 to 6:00pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from April to November. It’s free to get in, but there is a donation box on the dining room table that you should chip a little something into. Why the funky hours? Because the apartment is part of the Landmark Trust and can be rented. If you rented it, would you want people traipsing in at all hours? Didn’t think so. Casa Guidi is located in Piazza San Felice, 8 near the Pitti Palace. Afterwards, head to Dolcissima nearby for something sweet.
