In this mosaic of horse-themed album covers, we have several cowboys, and even one album with a title about the field of study of cowboys: the Canadian country singer and songwriter, Ian Tyson's "Cowboyography". We usually think of a cowboy as a uniquely American concept and invention, but did you know that the English word cowboy comes from the Spanish word vaquero, meaning an individual who managed cattle while mounted on horseback? The word buckaroo – another term for a cowboy – is an anglicization of vaquero (think of it as baˈkeɾo).
